Hemphill's Rugs & Carpets offers not only a wide variety of sisal of excellent quality; we also offer a large selection of border fabric options so you can customize a sisal rug to your preferences or to make the rug highly complementary to the colors and decor of its intended location.

Unlike Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel and others, you are not limited by size and standard bindings. For example, a 4' x 6' sisal rug with a 1-1/2 inch cotton border is just $199.

For rug border materials, you can select from 25 different cotton fabrics, two jute fabrics, and 20 different tapestry patterns and colors. These are great looking fabrics and they are padded so the sisal pattern will not telegraph through.

We even offer an option of having two colors of binding applied for a very custom look. (See large photo on page.)

Cotton/Jute Borders

In selecting a cotton border, you have several options.

You can order a single border or a double border. A single border can be medium width, at 1-1/2 inches wide on the face of the rug, or wide width, at 3-1/2 inches. You also have a width choice with a double border—medium width is 3 inches on the face and wide width is 5 inches.

Only cotton fabrics can be used when creating a double-border rug. (Note: the two jute fabrics offered cannot be used in double-border rugs, nor can the tapestry fabrics.)

With cotton and jute borders, you also have the option of square corners or mitered corners. All double borders must be mitered, but with single borders—whether medium or wide width—you can have either square borders (as illustrated in the top photograph) or mitered borders.

Tapestry Borders

Hemphill's offers 20 different padded tapestry borders. Some of the most popular patterns come in multiple colors.

Tapestry borders must have mitered corners, and must have a width of 5 inches on the face of the rug.
