REVIEW: We first used Hemphill's Rugs & Carpet 10 years ago when building a large house in Turtle Rock. The store's selection and service then was impressive. The quality of the carpet we purchased was superior and held up remarketedly well over the years our children grew up. Downsizing to Newport Beach in 2011 we naturally went back to the place that served us so well before. Brett and his staff were extremely helpful as we were making our decisions. Several weeks later when the 3 carpets arrived we discovered to our surprise that dining room carpet colors did not match the border we had selected. When Brett came to our house to see the colors for himself he quickly agreed that the two blues did not match and offered to replace the border at his cost - IS THIS OLD FASHION SERVICE OR WHAT? Be prepared for a very large selection of rugs and carpets in the show room. Do not expect to do your shopping in one hour because of the many many choices you will find. Hemphill's understands the selection process, wants you to be happy with your purchase and will patiently assist you if you want or leave you alone. One suggestion before you see Hemphill's extensive offering of colors, patterns, styles and price ranges is to tear out magazine pictures of rooms that you like. Showing the store pictures of you preferences is very helpful to them in their recommendations. Do not be surprised if you end up likeing what you find at Hemphills better than what you had decided on. Be comfortable that they will not try to "upsale" you or push a certain brand. You will always be able to find rugs and carpet that are less expensive than at Hemphills but the products will probably not be the same quality. However, do not expect to find higher value for your rug/carpet purchase and service during and after the sale. Jim M.
